There are two ways you can support the Georgia Chapter of the American Fisheries Society.  You can either contribute as a sponsor of our annual meeting or you can make a donation to our Student Opportunity Fund Raffle/Silent Auction.  Since we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, all donations are tax deductible.

Annual Meeting Sponsorship

Our sponsors are critical to the success of our annual meeting and our efforts to promote fisheries science in Georgia.  The financial support provided is used to support the Chapter’s annual meeting, where practicing fisheries managers, scientists, and students from around the state gather to exchange ideas and information, learn new techniques and approaches, receive training, and stay current on issues facing Georgia’s fisheries.  Furthermore, our sponsors make it possible for our Chapter to drastically reduce the meeting registration fees for students so they are able to attend our annual meetings.

Raffle/Silent Auction Donors

Each year at our annual meeting the Chapter conducts a raffle/silent auction to raise funds for our Student Opportunity Fund. Annually our Chapter rewards one academic scholarship and four (two male and two female) student travel stipend scholarships.  Our scholarship awardees are students who are currently pursuing an education which will allow them to pursue careers that help improve and protect our aquatic natural resources.

Donors are critical to the success of our Chapter’s annual fundraiser.  Donations can be made from business, organizations, or individuals.   All of our proceeds from the annual raffle/silent auction fundraiser is invested to support our student scholarships.  Examples of items which can be donated for our raffle/silent auction: hats, books, t-shirts, cookware, outdoor camping/hiking equipment, fishing reels/rods, lures, fishfinders, miscellaneous fishing gear , tickets/gift certificates to events/museums/aquariums/etc., knives, pictures, artwork, pottery, Georgia Grown products, kayak/whitewater rafting trips, backpacks, restaurant gift cards, coolers, trail cams, and guided fishing trips.
